ESA Dog Application

The ESA Dog Application is a part of the Michigan Veteran K9 Coalition selection process. Please answer the following information truthfully to the best of your ability.

If your application is approved, Michigan Veteran K9 Coalition covers the cost to purchase, train, equipment, spay/neuter and vaccinations of the ESA before it is provided to the veteran handler. After that, the veteran is responsible for the care costs after ownership transfer is complete.

Basic equipment that is included in the package: Crate, leash, remote collar, 1 bag of dog food, food dish, water dish, treat pouch and a vest with patches.

Estimated cost of owning your ESA after training is complete:

  • Yearly Vet Costs: Health check, vaccinations, heart worm & flea/tick preventative – $200-300
  • Yearly Food Cost: Buying $10 bag a week = $520
  • Grooming: $200-700
  • Toys, Treats and other miscellaneous items $200

 

























    DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY OF DOGS THIS PROCESS COULD TAKE 2 - 12 MONTHS TO COMPLETE.
